Full Moon Calendar 2027: Dates, Signs and What to Do With Them

Here is every full moon of 2027 with its date and zodiac sign, followed by a short guide to what each sign's full moon is traditionally about and a simple way to use the dates. Bookmark it, or copy the table straight into your planner.

All dates are US Eastern Time. A full moon is a single moment, so depending on your time zone the calendar date can be a day earlier or later. To the eye, the Moon looks full for about a night either side.

Why a full moon has a zodiac sign

At a full moon the Moon is opposite the Sun in the sky, so it is always in the zodiac sign opposite the Sun's. When the Sun is in Aquarius in late January, the full moon is in Leo. When the Sun is in Libra in mid-October, the full moon is in Aries.

What a full moon means in astrology

If the new moon is for beginnings, the full moon is for results. The Moon is fully lit, and the tradition reads that literally: things become visible. Astrologers associate full moons with culmination, clarity, release and emotions running closer to the surface than usual.

In a planner, that makes the full moon your review date. You are not starting anything. You are looking at what has grown, and deciding what to keep.

The 2027 full moons, sign by sign

January 22: Leo

Theme: confidence and creative expression. Mars is retrograde, and Leo is one of the two signs it retraces. Ask: what am I proud of that I have not acknowledged?

February 20: Virgo (lunar eclipse)

Theme: routines, work and getting the details right. A penumbral eclipse is subtle to look at, but astrologers treat any eclipse as a stronger than usual full moon. Ask: which habit has run its course?

March 22: Libra

Theme: relationships and fairness. Ask: where is the give and take out of balance?

April 20 and May 20: Scorpio, twice

Theme: honesty, trust and letting go. Two full moons in a row fall in Scorpio this year, which gives you a rare second pass at the same question. Use April to name what you want to release, and May to check whether you did. Ask: what am I holding on to out of habit?

June 18: Sagittarius

Theme: meaning, travel and the bigger picture. It falls during the summer Mercury retrograde. Ask: what do I believe now that I did not a year ago?

July 18: Capricorn

Theme: goals, work and responsibility. This is the six-month check on the Capricorn new moon of January 7. Ask: am I climbing the right hill?

August 17: Aquarius (lunar eclipse)

Theme: friends, community and the future. It falls in the same sign as the solar eclipse of February 6, and astrologers read the two as bookends. Ask: who are my people, and am I showing up for them?

September 15: Pisces

Theme: rest, imagination and compassion. Ask: what do I need to forgive, in myself or someone else?

October 15: Aries

Theme: independence and courage. It falls during the autumn Mercury retrograde. Ask: where have I been waiting for someone else to go first?

November 13: Taurus

Theme: comfort, security and what you value. Ask: what is already enough?

December 13: Gemini

Theme: conversation, curiosity and loose ends. Ask: what needs saying before the year ends?

The six-month echo

A sign's new moon and full moon fall roughly six months apart. Astrologers treat them as a pair: the seed and the harvest. In 2027 you can follow six of these pairs within the calendar year.

A fifteen-minute full moon review

1. Re-read. Find what you wrote at the last new moon, two weeks ago.
2. Record. What happened? Facts first, feelings second.
3. Credit. Write down one thing that went well, however small.
4. Release. Name one thing you are finished with: a task, a worry, an expectation.
5. Decide. Carry the intention on, change it, or drop it. All three are fine.

People who like a ritual often add a walk outside to look at the Moon, a tidy of one drawer or shelf, or a list of things to let go of that they then throw away. None of that is required. The review is the part that matters.

Full moons during eclipses and retrogrades

Six of the twelve full moons in 2027 overlap with something else: two are lunar eclipses, two fall during Mars retrograde, on January 22 and March 22, and two more fall during Mercury retrograde, on June 18 and October 15.
