How Our Horoscopes Are Made

This page explains how Horoscope CodeX produces its horoscopes, forecasts and calendars: what is calculated, what is interpretation, and where the limits are.

Step 1: the sky is calculated

Every dated sky event on this site comes from astronomical calculation. That covers:

• moon phases and the sign the Moon is in;
• retrograde periods for Mercury, Mars and the outer planets;
• solar and lunar eclipses;
• the dates when planets change sign.

Positions are computed from standard astronomical formulas and placed in the tropical zodiac, the system used by most Western astrology, in which Aries begins at the March equinox. An event can fall on a different calendar day depending on where you live, so each page states the time zone its dates are given in, usually US Eastern Time.

Step 2: the events are interpreted for each sign

A horoscope takes those events and reads them for each of the 12 signs. We use whole-sign houses: your sign is treated as the first house, the next sign as the second, and so on around the wheel. The same new moon therefore lands in a different area of life for each sign, which is why twelve readings of one sky differ.

The meanings we attach to planets, signs and houses follow widely used astrological tradition. Where a reading mentions a dated event, that date comes from Step 1.

Step 3: writing and review

Our writing is produced with AI assistance. Before publishing, readings are reviewed against the calculated dates, so that the events named in a horoscope match what is happening in the sky. Content is published under the name Horoscope CodeX Editorial.

What a sun-sign horoscope can and can't do

Sun-sign horoscopes are general by nature. They are written for everyone who shares a sign, using only that sign. A full birth chart depends on your exact date, time and place of birth, and no sun-sign column can account for it. If you know your rising sign, reading for that sign as well often fits better.

Astrology is not science

The dates on this site are astronomy. The interpretations are astrology, which is not a science and has no proven ability to predict events. Everything here is offered for entertainment and reflection. It is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it shouldn't be used to make decisions of that kind.
